Your Chance to Do Community Networking on Saturday

The Los Angeles Neighborhood Councils Coalition meets May 5.

The Los Angeles Neighborhood Councils Coalition--which includes the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council as well as its Highland Park counterpart--is scheduled to hold its monthly meeting on Saturday, May 5, at 10 a.m. in Hollywood.

The meetings of the coalition, which represents L.A.’s 95 Neighborhood Councils, are generally under-reported in the local media, except in some blogs. But they are an excellent venue to hear—and even get to meet—City bigwigs, besides being privy to discussions surrounding critical issues about community life spanning the gamut from public safety to public works.

(You’d be surprised how many people in L.A. spend countless hours voluntarily representing the community via their neighborhood councils at such meetings.)

Recent meetings have included such City representatives Chief Administrative Officer Miguel Santana, Council Member Bernard Parks, Council Member Jan Perry, attorney and Redistricting Commission Member Helen Kim. A string of representatives from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power as well as other city agencies have also attended the LANCC’s past meetings.
