How Can Kids Remain Busy This Summer?

LAUSD's shortened summer is a bane for many and a boon for some. Either way, it's challenging for children to be occupied during the school vacation.

Some parents might be lamenting LAUSD's shortened summer—this year, local public school students head back to campus mid-August after two months of school vacation.

But one Eagle Rock mom says the start of academic life can't come soon enough.

She says her teenage daughter, who used to go to summer camp when she was in elementary school, has been incredibly bored this season. She is interested to know what other middle-school kids have been doing in the neighborhood to stay busy and engaged.

Do you have a teen who has been doing interesting stuff in Eagle Rock? What activities, groups or volunteer programs would you suggest to this teen and her mother?
