'Intimacies' Celebrates The Best of CalArts (Photos)

Don't miss this exciting exhibition in the heart of Eagle Rock.

The 2011 California Institute of the Arts MFA Graduate Exhibition, which opened June 25 at the Farley Storage Building on 1669 Colorado Blvd., is an intriguing reflection of what CalArts faculty member Shirley Tse refers to as the institute’s “divergent and competing approaches, opinions and models” about what it means to be an artist in today’s world.

From a sprawling representation of one of the earliest board games known to civilization—from Africa—to an array of video and audio installations, the exhibition, titled “Intimacies,” showcases the work of 35 students. You can catch the show today, Sunday, from noon to 8 p.m. Or you can pop in Tuesday through Sunday, July 10, from noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays and from noon to 8 p.m. on the exhibition’s concluding weekend.
