Occidental College Students Recall 9/11

Amid volunteering at Eagle Rock High on 9/11's eve, six students reminisce about the day when everything changed.

On Saturday, the eve of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, scores of students, faculty and staff volunteered to help with a variety of campus beautification projects at and Franklin High School—two of Oxy's longtime community partners.

The daylong exercise was held in collaboration with the Los Angeles Mayor's Office of Community Beautification as part of the first officially-designated September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, which was marked by service projects across the nation.

Eagle Rock Patch asked six Oxy students who lent a hand setting up benches at the cafeteria at Eagle Rock High about their memories of Sept. 11, 2001—and how the attacks on the twin towers in New York impacted their lives.
