Legendary sports figures from years past gathered on the Eagle Rock High School campus Friday night in a memorable ceremony where four of their peers were inducted into the celebrated ERHS Hall Of Fame.
After a brief welcome by ERHS alumni president Eric Warren and Principal Salvador Velasco, Hall of Fame President Gale Fullerton (S-62) kicked things off by introducing those on hand. Inductees this year included: • Joe Conte (W-51), who died this past June and was recognized posthumously.
• Former track great Bob Johnson (S-58), one of the greatest track athletes ever at the school, who went on to a great career at Oregon State, where he became one of the nation's premier runners, even setting a world record.
• Dennis Chinn (S-62), an all-city football player and shot putter who went on to become a first team all-American player at Occidental College and was instructed by legendary Oxy and NFL coach Jim Mora.
• Andy Rivera (97), who excelled in volleyball. Numerous former inductees and prominent alumni attended the event, many of whom still reside locally.
