Determined, dedicated and competitive, Jorgensen is the third generation of her family to excel at Eagle Rock High School.

Whiz Kid's Name/Age: Lauren Jorgensen, 17

Whiz Kid's School/Church/Community Center:

Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Jorgensen has been the co-captain of the Eagle Rock Girls Varsity soccer team for the past two years and has led her team thrice to victory in the Northern League Championship. She has been named an All League Defender twice and has excelled in track. She has consistently won the Scholar Athlete and Coach's Awards and was one of 250 girls out of more than 1200 competitors to be named a quarter finalist in the 2010 Pasadena Rose Court Selection.

Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Besides her remarkable talent for soccer, Jorgensen boasts a weighted GPA of 4.152 and has taken a host of Advanced Placement classes, including in English, U.S. Government and psychology. As a Senior Class Officer, she has served as class historian and has volunteered in a wide variety of activities, including numerous trail and beach clean-ups in the Santa Monica Mountains and a project at the Ojai Raptor Center. She has also participated in student mentoring projects in high school and elementary schools.

Bonus Whiz Kid Info: Jorgensen is waiting to hear whether she has been admitted to , where she wants to earn a degree in kinesiology and become a physical therapist or go to medical school and become an orthopedic surgeon. While she knows that Oxy offers a wonderful education, she’s also considering joining Pasadena City College, which has a strong focus on soccer. If she does end up at PCC, she hopes to transfer after two years to USC—to play soccer. In fact, her greatest dream is to play soccer in the Olympics.
