Blowing His Horn by the Los Angeles River

When the city's hot, the LA River can be a balmy refuge.

When Glendale resident Richard Chung isn't working as an optician in Koreatown, he sometimes practices his alto sax by the Los Angeles River in Atwater Village, his tunes colliding with the steady hum of traffic from the 5 freeway nearby.

The photo does not look like a photo taken in Atwater Village. Exactly where was the photo taken?

Think its the unmaintained area by the golf course on Los Feliz. This actually makes one want to laugh. Hope he don't get bit by a mosquito with West Nile Virus.

Exact location: Between the 5 freeway bridge on Los Feliz Boulevard and on the outskirts of the golf course adjacent to Eat cafe. In short: Atwater Village to the boot.

Just for a change of practicing venue, I sometimes ride up to the top of the Verdugo Hills in Glendale, northwest of the 134/2 freeway intersection. It's a jeep trail, so I use a mountain bike. It's quiet up there. I can play my french horn as loud as I like and the one or two people I meet on the trail have never bothered me. Ah, blase' Angelinos.
