Blog: Homegrown, Hard-Working: Luis Lopez for 51st District Assembly

Luis Lopez deserves your vote for 51st District Assembly.

Democrat Luis Lopez is clearly the best choice for the 51st district assembly seat. A tireless local progressive, Luis knows the ins and outs of the district, its people and our needs. He is committed to be a strong voice for us in the capitol.

In the Assembly he will continue the work he’s done in the community for the past decade: Standing up for women’s health, HIV services and healthcare for all. Supporting the arts and parks when many would cut them into non-existence. Promoting local job creation through smart development that attracts businesses while addressing neighborhood concerns. Improving schools for students, teachers and the communities. Encouraging pet adoptions and animal rights. Speaking up for marriage equality and equal rights for all Californians. He will fight for our priorities because they are his priorities, too.

More than 300 community leaders support Luis, and he is endorsed by many local service and labor organizations. He is also uniquely qualified to help break the partisan logjam in Sacramento as he is a rare progressive Democrat with the respect and support of many Republicans and independents, without ever wavering in his convictions. He will reach out to all parties who share his vision of moving our district and state forward.

Luis is beholden only to the district residents, and more than 80% of his campaign contributions have come from individuals. By contrast, his opponent, Jimmy Gomez, has gotten more than 80% of his contributions from PACs, corporations and outside interests, strings firmly attached. Indeed, Gomez has so little invested in the district that he himself seems unsure of exactly how long he has lived here. We deserve better than a carpetbagger using our district as a vote for special interests; we deserve a representative like Luis who has proved he's prepared to work hard and deliver for us, the people.

Vote Luis Lopez for Assembly on November 6.

Great piece on why Luis Lopez has the momentum in these final weeks before the election. I also have known Luis for many years since we served together on the SIlver Lake Neighborhood Council 9 years ago. He demonstrated true leadership qualities there that he will bring to Sacramento on our behalf. LOPEZ 2012!

There is no substitute for the years Luis has put in working for the community. Along with just getting to know the district better, it has also given him experience in dealing with a much wider range of local issues than his opponent.

Luis Lopez is the better choice. I got a call from his campaign yesterday. I told them I was an undecided voter. As we talked I came to realize that Luis was the better choice based on only one fact. And, that is he is NOT being supported by the so called Democrats that sit in office for 100 years and do nothing. While, yes he is a democrat, he is not being supported by those that put us in the bad and broken position the city and state are in. Anyone that is not part of that group deserves a chance.

Luis is the clear choice in this election. He has deep ties to the district, has a long history of accomplishments in the district. Most importantly, he's running a campaign based on community financial support and volunteers, not the Democratic machine in Sacramento and it's special interest money. Oh, and he's smart too!

I applaud the time and effort you took to look into this, nonoise. More and more as people take notice of this race, they are coming to the same decision as you. Luis will not let you down.
