Go-Karting—and Don't Let the Glassell Pool Drown

1. Go-Karting at Eagle Rock Plaza

Fancy some indoor fun, especially if you spent the weekend outdoors—or wished you had? Try go-karting—right here in Eagle Rock, all of this week and through Tuesday, Aug. 6, next week. 2. Center for the Arts Benefit at Leanna Lin's

Leanna Lin's Wonderland launched a new art show over the weekend to partly benefit the Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock. Titled Glitz & Pixie Stix, the show features whimsical paintings, mixed-media art and plush by 18 artists until Aug. 25. Also launched over the weekend was Misha Lulu's Mishalanda, a husband-and-wife production that, among other things, showcases original art, limited edition prints, handmade limited edition dolls and crochet hats. Leanna Lin's Wonderland, 5024 Eagle Rock Blvd., (323) 550-1332.

3. Help the Glassell Pool Remain Open in Perpetuity

For the first time in more than a decade, the Glassell Pool at the Glassell Park Rec Center will close after June 2014 and reopen only in June the following year. To help keep it open in perpetuity, not least because the Eagle Rock High School swimming team practices there for competitions, Friends of Glassell Pool have launched a $470,000 fundraising effort. Any funds raised will be used to supplement and enhance the shrinking budget of the Department of Recreation and Parks. To contribute, write checks in the name of L.A.
