Inglewood is not Los Angeles. Inglewood is its own city. Yes, the Forum is still around.
Penny Arévalo (Editor) February 5, 2014 at 07:52 am
But they weren't the Inglewood Lakers. And hey, we have the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. AnaheimRead More is DEFINITELY not LA! And you know what? Sales actually increased after adding Los Angeles to the team.
nonoise February 5, 2014 at 10:02 am
Anaheim was not happy that Los Angeles was used in their name because the game was not in LosRead More Angeles. And, the Glendale Kia Dealership on San Fernando Road is not in Glendale, but they still use the Glendale name.

First of GO EAGLES!! Congrats on great season to players and kudos to the coaching staff. As aRead More alumnus and former participant in the football program (we won league and went to city twice, when there was only one division) you've done us proud. Don't let up , and come home with the championship trophy! And then have a parade through ER honoring the team. PS- The photo caption botched my name on the photo credit

You cut the video short - where is the part where he sweep kicks the older guy, pepper sprays, thenRead More slaps some cuffs on him?

Way to go, Ben! Ajay - Pretty sure that's 44 HOURS, 8 minutes, 7 seconds. Amazing as he is, I'mRead More fairly certain Ben didn't run 135 miles in less than an hour. Also, running pace is typically described in minutes per mile, not miles per hour. In this case, Ben averaged a 19:36 minute mile.
Do Something July 18, 2013 at 11:12 am
@Michael, My thoughts were exact: My mind, "44 minutes!? Wooooah! This man is a machine!"Read More Aside from that, congratulations Ben Gaetos! MABUHAY!
Ajay Singh (Editor) July 18, 2013 at 12:06 pm
Thanks for pointing out the typo, Michael. Yes, Ben isn't quite the human Concord, not yet anyway,Read More and yes, his timing was indeed 44 HOURS, 8 minutes, 7 seconds. And while your point about running pace is doubtless correct, I don't think the Badwater stats uses it. What they have is average speed, and in Ben's case it's just a wee bit more than 3 mph (I know, mph is typically used for machines, especially the ones that outnumber people in L.A., but then again, Ben's something of a human dynamo, isn't he?).

It wasn't just for motorcycles - lots of kids used it for their bikes during the week. I'm guessingRead More the owner (who is likely not local) got wind of this and worried about the legal liability. Too bad for the kids, though.

As someone who enjoys following the real estate market, I can tell you the lot was for sale for someRead More time. So I looked it up, and it appears the lot was for sale off and on quite a bit for the last several years, and was sold and closed on April 4th. Here is the listing on Redfin http://www.redfin.com/CA/Los-Angeles/2228-Yosemite-Dr-90041/home/7178125 According to Blockshopper LA, the lot was owned by a Mr Shahbazian of Yosemite Drive Properties LLC and was sold to Yosemite Drive Homes LLC http://losangeles.blockshopper.com/property/5685005005/2228_yosemite According to CorporationWiki, Yosemite Drive Homes LLC, filed with the Sec of State in March, lists an address in Westlake Village, and has no known company officers. http://www.corporationwiki.com/California/Westlake-Village/yosemite-drive-homes-llc/135352722.aspx

Yes! There are some great athletes at ERHS and among them are full inclusion students.Read More Congratulations to a very hard working group of students and their coaches. Like many athletes at ERHS, they practice and compete without much of an audience, so it's wonderful when they do get public recognition for their accomplishments. Many don't know that they also had to raise the money to travel to the Penn Relays, so props to all the kids. Best of luck!
Vinnie Brascia May 7, 2013 at 02:59 am
A few things. This was our first year going to Penn. We do have a full inclusion team known asRead More Double A in the city and they are a pleasure to work with, but there were no full inclusion kids brought on the trip. However, if you wish to see the Double A team, or any athletes from the Northern league participate. Our league finals will be held this Friday May 10th starting at roughly 5:30pm.

Fishermen??!! Are you out of your freakin minds. Assuming there are fish in there, you betterRead More throw them back if you catch them or you'd be dead in a week from eating whatever lives in that water.

Truly a nice man, very down to earth, did not flaunt his wealth. I was a news photographer coveringRead More the LA` sports scene, when Buss purchased the JKC sports domain we all asked who is this guy (none of us in the media had ever heard of him)? He turned out be a blessing to the LA sports scene, he was approachable, taking time to converse with you and was always humble. Just a plain nice man. Unlike Cook he was always present at his teams games and did not sit in the owners box but among the ordinary fans. RIP Dr Buss your legacy will remain long after any of us have departed

Thanks, Jerry, for giving L.A. such a GREAT basketball team all these years. We won't see the likesRead More of you again. R.I.P.

Jerry, although not original from here, became a true L.A. native. The truest, perhaps, than anyRead More luminary in memory. Like Randy Newman, he LOVED L.A. He reflected the dichotomous nature of Angelenos -- down to earth and hip Hollywood glamour. The chants in rival arenas when the Lakers played ("Beat L.A.") simply revealed their envy of Los Angeles and an erroneous image of L.A. as purely superficial and phony. True, Buss was flamboyant and a playboy. But he was also a self-made man, rising from his austere humble upbringing in Iowa where he rummaged trash cans for phone books to use as firewood to heat the tiny home he lived in with his mother. I was fortunate enough to meet Jerry Buss at Chasens restaurant where I was celebrating my mom and dad's anniversary. I was shocked when mom walked right up to his table and introduced herself as his mother's hair stylist. I had no idea. "Is this your granddaughter?" she asked. No mom, she wasn't. And I hadn't the heart to inform mom of Buss's lifestyle. We can only hope any sibling rivalry amongst the Buss children will be put to rest in the interest of Los Angeles ... and to honor the memory of the greatest owner in sports franchise history.

What the writer (Gale Fullerton) fails to mention is what an integral role he played in the moldingRead More of these great athletes he writes about. Gale was very influential during his tenure at ERHS in helping the greats like Dennis Chinn, John Black, Bob Jones (just to name a few) to accomplish their goals. So lets give credit where its due.
henk friezer November 6, 2012 at 02:28 pm
On a personal note. I would like to say how honored I felt to be in the presence of these legendaryRead More sports figures from ER's glory days. To see Bob Jones who I consider to be the best athlete I ever witnessed at ER ( I have covered ERHS sports for over 50years) made it a great night. I was unaware, like others at the event, that coaching great Jim Mora grew up in ER and attended Dahlia school and ERJHS. It was an awe inspiring event, Hats off to Gale Fullerton!

Henk, you photos are great. Would you like me to email you the many pictures I took at the SportsRead More Hall of Fame. Also, would you like me to email you the four stories I wrote about the four inductees. It was great seeing you again, and thank you for the kind words. Gale Fullerton

My name is Chris jones. I am lucky enough to be the son of Bob Jones. Thank you all for honoringRead More him last night. It meant the world to me to see you validate his accomplishments. He never bragged, boasted or told my sister and I about what he did in sports. He just guided us and let us have our own experiences. He is truly my " super man". Thanks for you're hard work last night. It is appreciated.

Mr. Conte was my idol and mentor. He coached me for several years. I learned more about baseballRead More and life from Mr. Conte than from anyone. He was a true winner all the way around. He used to play hardball fast pitch and he was the oldest player, but also the best player. Simply an amazing man. Bobby Kelso ERHS 1975

Covering football games has not been the same without Joe's officiating. He enjoyed the sport, andRead More added a n extra dimension to keeping the game flowing while being objective with his calls. Always had a smile for people. Fortunately his sons and grandsons have continued the tradition of officiating started by Joe.
